Are there any Mandie fans on the board? I loved this series as a kid and still collect the latest books, although I think they have gone down quite a bit in plot quality.
I think the Little House mini series, (teribble as it is) has got me in a nostalgic mood. Therefore I made a Mandie outfit for my girls this week. Mandie Oufit
I based the outfit on the cover of book nine, Mandie and the Hidden Treasure This is a great, clean, christian (although in no way preachy) mystery series for preteens. I highly recommend 1-15 and only mildly recommend the remainder. Enjoy.

I could not get through the enter door of your site, Nann - I'll try later, because I thnk it was just a hang. Boo hoo, I wanted to see your dress.
My dd has most of the earlier Mandy books but thought they were too young for her ( she just turned 10 and tried them a year ago) so I don't think they are written for preteens, but as first chapter books (anyone know for sure?). They are small, and she said they seemed to her to be intended to be like Nancy Drew but aimed at younger girls.
I'll be selling these soon if anyone is interested ( pm me)

There was another series of Mandie books done for young readers. Maybe that's the set you have? Are the covers pastel drawings or are they photos?
I think the age range on Mandie is 9-12 vocabulary and theme wise. I was right around ten when I read the originals. The young reader series only came out in the last few years.

Wow, Nann, you do lovely work. I got onto the ebay auction and admired the perfect row of stitching where the crown meets the brim of the hat and the perfectly even piping. I know how hard it is to do those things!
Our books have the same illustrations as the book you showed - no photographs. Is that the older or newer version?
I've found everything from 75 - 400 page books and books with every level of vocabulary listed as '4th grade level'. The system seems to be that there are pre readers, beginning readers, and '4th grade readers'. Then it jumps to young adult. Kind of makes it hard to place some books, and also hard to pick out books for kids, if you aren't a children's lit buff yourself, doesn't it? I also think that the world has changed enough that what seems juvenile to girls of today didn't to us. I think Mandie books are pretty readily available at the library though, so it's easy enough to see if it is a good fit for the individual.
I'm getting curious so might have to dig one out and read it myself, LOL!

Thanks so much for the compliments It's always wonderful when another sewer notices the detail work. Piping is a pain, but it so makes that bonnet and apron.
It appears that you have the older books and not the young readers as I originally thought. It's too bad your daughter didnt catch Mandie a year or two ago; she might have enjoyed her then.
I hope someone on the board takes you up on your sale. They are good books. I think they are more advanced than an AG meet book but less complicated than a Harry Potter, if that helps with identifying an age range (for those who are curious).

*jumps up and down and waves* ME ME ME ME!!!! 22 and still actively reading them. I go through phases where I'll just pick a chunk and read them, lol. Getting the urge to read the Europe ones again, and I haven't even read the 3 newest yet, lol.
I got into Mandie when I was 9, introduced to them right after #13 came out.
The outfit is lovely, Nann! Hidden Treasure has always been one of my favorite covers for Mandie. Would you ever consider doing her blue gingham one from Mandie and the Medicine Man?

I'd be happy to do it for you if you would like.

I never read any Mandie books, but speaking of great mystery series for kids, does anyone remember the Heather Reed books? She was like an updated Nancy Drew. I loved those books!

I LOVED the Mandie books!!!! They were my first series. My mom used to read them to me, then I started reading them on my own.
They were brand new when I was a little kid. Great mystery books! Its a Christian series, by the way, for those that haven't heard of it.
